yum!

So, I'm not a baker annnnd I don't really cook. In fact, I probably don't have any business being in the kitchen. But, the weird thing is...I have this unqualified feeling that if I put my mind to it, I could actually put a meal together.

Maybe it's the cute aprons from Anthropologie. Or the fancy cookbooks that make me judge a book by it's cover even though I shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. Or the idea of being the cupcake lady on the block that greets all of the new neighbors with perfectly iced cupcakes. I think all of this has clouded my judgment a bit.

yum!

For a girl that doesn't spend much time baking, I sure do spend an awful lot of time reading recipes. I recently found the blog My Baking Addiction and boy oh boy I need to start baking and quick.

The clouds parted when I saw this:

NO BAKE Nutella cheesecake. What better way for a girl to learn to bake if she doesn't actually have to bake? S. and I are big Nutella fans, so I think I'll add this to the queue. I just need to get a cute apron, first!

Oui, oui!

I love (*ahem) j'adore all things french. The obsession began in 6th grade, when I took my first french class and learned practical things, like how to say the colors and how to count to 10. From that point on, I was a girl destined to wear a beret and have a poodle named Fifi.

My obsession grew a couple of years back when S. and I went to Paris. C'est magnifique! The whole point of this trip (for me, anyway) was to see La Tour Eiffel. Ask S. That is really all I talked about.

fulfilling my mission

Moving forward and thinking about my future home, I'd love to have a cozy home with a french country feel to it. My current focus is on "zee perfect kitchen". I have already chosen France's colors of red and blue (mixed with a touch of tan) - and yes, I know these are America's colors as well. I'll leave my love for all things Americana for another post. Because trust me, the 4th of July is my favorite holiday. *U-S-A U-S-A*

Anyway...my sister got me this lovely canister to hold all of my tea for my future kitchen:

Now, all I need is some french bread, some french toast, and some french fries. Because that's what they eat in France, right?

think pink!

think pink!

1) Chanel nail color 2) Jcrew patent skinny belt 3) Kate Spade retro sunnies 4) Jcrew linen wrap 5) Tory Burch sandals

I know it's only February...but I've got spring on the brain. What better way to punch up that wardrobe than with a pink accessory? You know you want to...

For the wee ones

I'm getting anxious to start knitting for the (((soon to be))) wee ones in my life. I feel like everyone is having a baby! They are going to keep my knitting needles busy.

With SO many wonderfully adorable options out there, I am having a difficult time choosing gender-neutral pieces. Here are a few that I've stumbled upon:

The Owlet Pattern by Kate Davies

By the looks of things, I am the only person in the history of knitting that hasn't tried this one yet. And I'm a fan of owls, so it's win-win.

L-O-V-E this idea, found on the BBB craft blog. How you present a gift can be just as important as the gift itself!

I don't know what I love more! The socks...or the chubby legs!

And of course, every baby needs a cozy blankie, courtesy of Purl Soho. I love this blanket because it reminds me of one my great-grandmother made...(in 70's style orange, brown, and cream!):

Decisions need to be made soon because these babies need some knit from the heart warmth up against their skin.

Renewed

Hello, neglected blog.

I have a confession. I didn't like our relationship. It's not you. It's me. I failed our relationship.

You see, I wanted more from you. I didn't just want to write about knitting. I wanted to write about antiquing, forays into cooking and baking, style...and I thought about whether or not all of that was possible.

And I decided, why, yes...as a matter of fact...it is! I can transform you into anything I'd like! Because that's how a healthy relationship works. You come as is, and I do everything I can to try and change you. Yes, that will work.

All joking aside, I wanted to branch out a bit. I felt trapped with my focus, and I wanted to expand. I wanted to share other bits of my life, and I hope you stay tuned in for the journey.

So, welcome (back) to my blog! A little bit of this and a little bit of that. Stay tuned!

J.
